Sometimes, it can feel as if we're all going a thousand miles at once. In moments like this, we might think we have to keep pushing ourselves to go faster but I suggest the exact opposite. Slow down. Relax. Unplug.
This weekend away was just that.
My significant other, Robin and I searched for the perfect location to turn off and be surrounded by nature. We had not an idea of where to actually find this but through Airbnb, we came across the cozy town of Traben-Trarbach in Germany. Upon arrival, we said goodbye to all technology. Normally, I aways have my phone by my side (not the best habit, I admit) but there was something very relaxing about putting it completely away.
It was 'off-season' in this cozy area and so even seeing people on the streets was rare. This added a unique touch that I liked though. There's just something fun and exciting about exploring a new place that is completely deserted. We had limited directions and no set plans yet were still led to all the right places.
If you're looking for some quiet time for yourself, a romantic getaway, or simply want to be surrounded by breathtaking nature, I highly recommend visiting Traben-Trarbach.
Here are the musts while there:
- renting a cozy cottage (here is the one we stayed in)
- dinner or drinks (preferably both) at Die Graifen
- walks in the hills exploring the vineyards & surrounding nature
- a relaxing day at the Mosel Thermal Baths
